Green Art Camp AND Youth Clay Camp - Full Day Summer Camp

Alison Babusci's recycled felt trees and camper throwing on the wheelGreen Art Camp AND Youth Clay Camp - Full Day Camp
5 days, Monday, July 10 - Friday, July 14, 2017
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Cost: $325/person (9-14 years old)

Fill your child's day with art in this full day summer camp that pairs green art in the morning and the clay studio in the afternoon!

In the mornings, your child will turn trash into treasures in Union Project's Green Art Camp. Drawing on her own artistic practice creating art from old sweaters and felted fibers, artist-educator Alison Babusci will lead a week of art-making and experimentation with recycled materials and treasures from nature. Campers will find inspiration in stories, the natural world, and contemporary artists, and then use their imaginations to weave, build, draw, print, and even puppeteer!

In the afternoons, campers will develop their hand-building and wheel-throwing ceramics skills in Union Project's welcoming, community studio space. This camp is designed for all experience levels, and instruction will begin with the basics: pinch and slab construction, centering, throwing small cylinders, trimming, and glazing techniques. By creating ceramic artwork every day during the camp, the students will be encouraged to develop self-confidence and excitement through their progress, invest in relationships with peers and neighbors, and take home their handmade pots at the end. It will be great fun!

This two-part camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, Monday through Friday. Campers should bring a lunch each day.
If you are only interested in the morning or afternoon session, you can sign up individually for the Morning Green Art Camp or Afternoon Youth Clay Camp.
