Electric Kiln Maintenance and Firing Workshop
Event Dates and Times:
January 23, 2022 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
During this one-day workshop, you will learn how to fire and maintain an electric kiln. Various glaze defects can occur if a kiln is not fired properly, such as crazing, dunting, crawling, pin-holing, etc. You will learn numerous firing programs that best accommodate the particular ware you are firing in your kiln. You will be able to troubleshoot kiln firing problems, recognize error codes, and under and over-fired work. The workshop will cover how to repair minor issues with electric kilns such as how to change elements, relays, thermocouples, wiring, and terminal strips. The goal is for you to gain a better understanding of how electric kilns operate and to develop the confidence to fire, repair, and maintain an electric kiln independently.
Union Project is committed to being accessible to all. The building is wheelchair accessible via the side door on Stanton Avenue, and an accessible parking spot is located just outside that door.
