Electric Kiln Maintenance Workshop
One-Time Workshop
Event Dates and Times:
January 22 (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
Event Cost:
$50.00
During this one-day workshop, you will learn how to fire and maintain an electric kiln. Glaze defects can occur if a kiln is not fired properly (crazing, dunting, crawling, pin-holing, etc..) Students will learn numerous firing programs that best accommodate the particular ware they are firing in their kilns. They will be able to troubleshoot kiln firing problems, recognize error codes, and under and over-fired work. The workshop will cover how to repair minor issues with electric kilns, such as changing elements, relays, thermocouples, wiring, and terminal strips. The goal is for students to understand better how electric kilns operate and develop the confidence to fire, repair, and maintain their own electric kilns. This class is appropriate for students 21 and over.
