Electric Kiln Maintenance

One-Time Workshop

Event Dates and Times:

January 27 (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Event Cost:

$50.00

Age Level: 21+
Experience Level: Intermediate and up

During this one-day workshop, you will learn how to fire and maintain an electric kiln. Glaze defects can occur if a kiln is not fired properly (crazing, dunting, crawling, pin-holing, etc.) You will learn numerous firing programs that best accommodate the particular ware you are firing in your kiln. You will be able to troubleshoot kiln firing problems, recognize error codes, and under and over-fired work. The workshop will cover how to repair minor issues with electric kilns, such as changing elements, relays, thermocouples, wiring, and terminal strips. The goal is for you to understand better how electric kilns operate and develop the confidence to fire, repair, and maintain your electric kiln.

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
