Event Dates and Times:
November 12 (12:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
Come and fire your pots with us in this one-time introduction to Raku firing. Raku is quick, fiery, and the results are unpredictable but amazing.
Your registration includes 12lbs of Raku clay and bisque firing for your Raku pieces. You can pick up your clay and create at home – or register for one of our Open Studio sessions and create in our studio. All pieces must be bisque fired before the workshop. Drop off your greenware no later than Tuesday, the week of the workshop. Work must be completely dry to be bisque fired in time for the workshop. During our workshop we’ll glaze the bisque pots and fire on-site, they’ll be ready to go home with you the same day.
Students are limited to a space of 9″H X 14″W X 14″D equaling approximately half of the kiln. Flat tiles and plates are more likely to crack and will not be fired. Please make sure your work is less than 1/2″ thick. To be an active participant in the firing you MUST wear long pants, long sleeves, and close-toed shoes. Other safety equipment will be provided. You may just observe if you do not wish to handle the ware in the kiln. Raku fired work is NOT FOOD SAFE.
This workshop will take place outdoors in our Kiln Shelter. It is appropriate for beginning and intermediate students.
If a class or workshop is sold out, you may request to be added to the waitlist by emailing email@example.com.
