Tips for a Successful Mother of All Pottery Sales 2024 Application

Tips for a Successful Mother of All Pottery Sales 2024 Application

Every year, Union Project gets more applications for MOAPS than in the previous year. As a result, the jury process has become significantly more competitive. The caliber of work and application materials submitted also continues to improve. We can’t accept every applicant and not even every strong applicant.

While following these tips is not a guarantee of being accepted into the show, following these guidelines will undoubtedly be helpful.

Follow Directions

  • Respond to all required questions in the application form.
  • Make sure all your submitted images are renamed so that the file names begin with your last name.
  • The application form will not appear after 11:59 pm on January 2, 2024, and there will be no exceptions to this deadline. Apply on time.

Photos of Your Work

  • Take photos of your work on a clean background in a well-lit area.
  • Make sure the work is clean of dust and lint before photographing.
  • Stabilize your capture device (camera or phone) to ensure crisp in-focus images.
  • Make sure all your submitted images are renamed so that the file names begin with your last name.
  • Don’t apply with the same photos you applied with in the past. (1-2 repeats are acceptable out of 5, but no more than that.)
  • While 1-2 styled images showing your work in groupings or in use are welcomed, please be sure to include some clean images of solo pieces.

Written Pieces

  • Artist statements should be written in the first person. Write authentically about your work and its inspiration – avoid jargon.
  • Brief artist bios should be written in the third person and in chronological order. Think of a bio as the narrative version of your resume. In the 100-word limit, you can’t include everything, so focus on elements of your life most relevant to your development as a ceramic artist.
  • Run a spellcheck on all of your writing.
  • Be sure to confirm the spelling and capitalization of any proper names (schools, galleries, art centers, etc.) These will not be caught by an automated spellchecker.
  • Use only one space after a period.
