Ceramic Classes & Camps

Union Project’s Ceramics Classes and Camps create connections and opportunities for learning and artistic expression in a fun and welcoming environment.

We serve the diverse needs of our surrounding neighborhoods and encourage the making of beautiful things, both handmade objects, and connections among people. Our clay-based programming is full of variety, from short workshops to multi-week classes, adult-only classes to family-friendly workshops, exploring different techniques, and occurring year-round.

All materials and supplies are included in the class price.

Class sessions occur four times per year. Each class session includes basic to advanced multi-week classes, Wheel 101s, opportunities for Teens and Tweens, and seasonal ceramic offerings. Firing workshops also explore different firing methods like gas reduction, soda, and Raku.

If you aren’t on our email list already, we recommend opting in. Folks on that list are always notified first about new class sessions and opportunities, as well as when registration opens.

Payment Levels

Union Project is committed to crafting an inclusive studio that is welcoming and accessible to all. We are now offering payment levels on select programs. The lowest price level is a discounted option for those in need, the middle price is the standard fee for the class or workshop, and the highest price level helps support the program cost for other folks. You do not need to apply for any level – choose the option that works for you.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available with our teaching artists. They can be customized to age, skill level, project idea, and interest. To learn more, please contact us.

Class Policies

Health Notice

We ask that students exercise caution and wash their hands regularly. We are working to ensure that our facility is disinfected properly for the safety of students, staff, volunteers, and the public. If you are not feeling well, please stay home. Union Project will waive our usual cancellation fees if students let us know ahead of the class that they can not attend due to illness.

Minimum Enrollment

All Union Project classes and workshops are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. If UP cancels a class, students will be notified via email and offered another class or workshop or a full refund.

Inclement Weather

Union Project rarely cancels classes or closes for weather. If a class or workshop is canceled, we will notify the enrolled students by phone as soon as possible. We understand that students come from far away places to learn at Union Project and that weather can vary dramatically between areas. We do not want anyone to get into a situation that they feel is unsafe. If you are concerned about traveling to a class that is not canceled, call or email us and we will do all we can to reschedule or accommodate you.

Age Requirements

Unless otherwise noted, you must be at least 16 years old to take a class or workshop without a parent and at least 14 years old to take a class or workshop with a parent.

Refunds and Cancellations

If a student cancellation request is received 14 days prior to the class or workshop start date, you will receive a full refund less a $10 cancellation fee. There is no refund for cancellations received 14 or fewer days before the class start date.

Missed Class / Makeup Policy

Students in multi-week/ongoing classes may makeup up one missed class during an Open Studio. You must register for an Open Studio that has available space. Email [email protected] and copy your instructor to request a code for a complimentary Open Studio.

Cost and Payment

Full class payment is required to secure placement in any class or workshop. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis until full.

Student Requested Transfers

If a student transfer request is received 14 days prior to the class or workshop start date, the student will be transferred without fees into the requested class if space is available. If the student transfer request is received less than 14 days prior to the class start date, the student will be transferred into the requested class if space is available, in addition to being charged a $10 transfer fee.
