Thursday Evening Beginner Sculpture/Handbuilding

Experience Level: All Levels   

Explore non-functional ceramics and ways to use clay to create sculptures. You will create freestanding, handmade pieces using sculptural techniques, including coil building, slab construction, and building solid forms to hollow out. Your teacher will demonstrate basic carving and work with sculpture tools. When creating figurative or abstract pieces, you will consider volume, weight, color, form, balance, and texture Glazing and finishing the sculpture will also be covered. 

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Each registration includes clay, tools, glaze, and firing costs for one participant. No outside clay or glazes permitted.
